چکیده
Cowpea is an important grain legume crop used as feed for livestock, and its dry beans provide protein. Consequently, the objective of this study was to evaluate selected cowpea genotypes herbage matter yield nutritional quality in two agro-ecologies Benishangul-Gumuz region. The conducted at Kamashi Assosa forages research stations Agricultural Research Center, sites were purposively represent lowland midland agro-ecologies, respectively. Four cowpeas’ accessions (V. Unguiculata ILRI-11114, ILRI-12688, ILRI-12713, ILRI-9333) one check (Melka (ILRI-9334) a check) evaluated randomized complete block design with three replications. Herbage yield, plant height forage harvesting, days maturity significantly affected by location (L). Longer heights, shorter maturity, higher ( P < 0.001 ) recorded than Assosa. id="M2"> 0.05 year (Y), Y id="M3"> ∗ L (Y interaction), G id="M4"> id="M5"> (genotype (G), id="M6"> L. However, neutral fibre id="M9"> influenced genotype. Thus, from present study, it can be recommended that ILRI-12688 are suitable ILRI-11114 areas terms biomass production.

Recent advances in cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L
After decades of research on cowpea, significant amount of omics datasets are available and useful in understanding the genetic relationship between Vigna unguiculata ssp. unguiculata and other species belonging to the same genus as well as its genetic variation. Besides, the development of genetic map allowed the chromosome localization of molecular markers associated with disease resistance, ...

متن کاملToxic effects of Pb2+ on growth of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata).
A concentration as low as 1 microM lead (Pb) is highly toxic to plants, but previous studies have typically related plant growth to the total amount of Pb added to a solution. In the present experiment, the relative fresh mass of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) was reduced by 10% at a Pb2+ activity of 0.2 microM for the shoots and at a Pb2+ activity of 0.06 microM for the roots. The primary site of ...

Limited nitrogen (N) content in the soil is a major challenge to sustainable and high crop production in many developing countries. The nitrogen fixing symbiosis of legumes with rhizobia plays an important role in supplying sufficient N for legumes and subsequent nonleguminous crops. To identify rhizobia strains which are suitable for bioinoculant production, characterization of rhizobia is a p...

Studies on physical induced mutagenesis, gamma rays were performed by exposing the healthy and dry seeds of cowpea variety CO 4 to gamma rays 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 kR. The study was to evolve economically important mutants with varied seed coat colour as against dark grey coloured seed coat of CO 4. The LD50 value was found at 50kR for 60 Co gamma rays. Under field conditions, germination, ...
